Brazilian police have revealed they foiled a bomb plot targeting a Lady Gaga concert on Saturday night.
Authorities confirmed that one person linked to the failed scheme was arrested and taken into custody. The Rio de Janeiro civil police said unidentified suspects were “recruiting participants online to carry out attacks” using improvised explosive devices. Investigators believe the attackers hoped to gain notoriety on social media through the act.
The concert, part of Lady Gaga’s Mayhem tour, was held at the iconic Copacabana venue. The singer had announced the show last month on Instagram, expressing excitement to return after previously canceling a performance due to injury.
“It’s a great honor to be invited to perform in Rio — throughout my career, Brazilian fans have been part of the lifeblood of the Little Monsters,” the American artist wrote.
