Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger now have an operational joint television channel. Tafouk TV, based in Bamako, has been regularly broadcasting its programs since September 16, 2026, and complements the media framework of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES).
The channel is accessible via satellite, notably on Canal+, online, and on TNT. Its name, “Tafouk,” means “sun” in Tamasheq.
A multilingual and confederal framework
The promoters present the channel as a tool designed to promote the cultures and languages of the three States, to broadcast the activities of the Confederation, and to strengthen what they refer to as “informational sovereignty.”
The programs are offered notably in Mooré, Hausa, Bambara, and Fulfulde, with French as the working language and content also planned in English.
The creation of Tafouk TV was formalized by an agreement signed on December 21, 2025. It complements the confederal radio Daandè Liptako, based in Ouagadougou.
