A man named Moïse was found dead on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in a rubber plantation in the Camp Militaire neighborhood in Abengourou. A 45-year-old laborer, identified by the initials S.G., was apprehended by the Research and Intervention Brigade and placed at the disposal of the justice system.

According to information attributed to Police Emergency and reported by several Ivorian media outlets, the body showed multiple injuries, notably to the head, arms, wrist, and right ear. The BRI was alerted around 7:30 a.m. before launching searches in the surrounding plantations.

The suspect was reportedly found hiding in a makeshift shelter. During his interrogation, he allegedly admitted to having had an altercation with the victim the previous evening, claiming to have caught her attempting, according to his version, to steal two chickens belonging to his employer.

He is said to have declared that he struck the victim with a club and then with a machete before moving the body onto a path. These details remain those reported by the investigators and will need to be assessed within the framework of the judicial process.

The Technical and Scientific Police, the police station of the 2nd district of Abengourou, and a forensic doctor participated in the findings. Under the instruction of the Public Prosecutor at the Abengourou Court of First Instance, the suspect was taken into custody and then brought before the prosecutor’s office.
