The cooperative societies of Indénié-Djuablin are raising the alarm about a leakage of part of the cocoa production to Ghana, where some buyers are offering prices higher than the official Ivorian price of 1,200 FCFA per kilogram.

The alert was issued on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, in Abengourou, on the occasion of the regional launch of the 2026-2027 coffee and cocoa marketing campaign.

According to the cooperatives, buyers go directly to the plantations and offer amounts higher than the farm-gate price set in Côte d’Ivoire. They believe that this situation encourages informal exports of beans to neighboring Ghana.

Sector officials are calling for increased monitoring of marketing channels and border areas, as well as better support for producers to limit sales outside the official circuit.

The 2026-2027 campaign was launched with an official cocoa price set at 1,200 FCFA per kilogram in Côte d’Ivoire.
