HomeSportFootballChampions League: Arsenal makes decision on Mikel Arteta's future

Arsenal has made a decision regarding Mikel Arteta’s future at the Emirates Stadium following the Gunners’ Champions League exit.

Despite being knocked out of the tournament by PSG in the semi-finals, Arsenal will not sack Arteta. According to The Daily Mail, the Premier League club has opted to maintain its trust in the Spanish coach, even after spending £600 million to strengthen the squad—an investment that has yet to yield major results.

Arteta watched his side fall 2-1 to PSG at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday, following a 1-0 defeat in the first leg. The back-to-back losses sealed Arsenal’s elimination from Europe’s top competition. With the Premier League title already clinched by Liverpool, the Gunners are now set to end the season without any silverware.

Mikel Arteta has been in charge of Arsenal since 2019 but has not led the team to a major trophy since the 2019–2020 season, when they defeated Chelsea 2-1 to win the FA Cup. Since then, the club has added two Community Shields to its cabinet, but has fallen short of achieving greater success.
