Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has been admitted to hospital after experiencing discomfort, just hours before the Champions League semi-final second leg between PSG and Arsenal on Wednesday night.
The former Red Devils defender was expected to provide coverage of the highly anticipated clash for TNT Sports. The 46-year-old has been a regular contributor to the network since retiring from a playing career that saw him make over 700 appearances and win six Premier League titles.
However, the former England international shared a photo from a hospital bed on Wednesday evening, only a few hours ahead of kickoff. “Gutted to miss the semi-finals this week on TNT Sports! Wishing the whole team the best of luck. I’ll be watching every minute on my iPad,” he wrote on X.
Ferdinand won the UEFA Champions League with Manchester United in 2008. As a reminder, PSG defeated Arsenal 2-1 to book their place in the final, where they will face Inter Milan, who eliminated Barcelona. The final is set to take place in Munich on May 31.
