Donald Trump does not rule out using military force to take control of Greenland

U.S. President Donald Trump has said he would not rule out the use of military force to gain control of Greenland.

Greenland, the world’s largest island, is an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark and a NATO member alongside the United States. Since taking office, Trump has repeatedly floated the idea of expanding American influence over the island, a stance that has sparked widespread condemnation and diplomatic tensions both within Greenland and on the international stage.

In an interview aired Sunday on NBC’s Meet The Press, Trump stated that military intervention to secure the territory was not off the table. “I’m not ruling it out. I’m not saying I will do it, but I’m not ruling anything out,” he said.

“Not over there. We badly need Greenland. Greenland has very few people—we will take care of them, we will cherish them and all that. But we need it for international security,” he emphasized.

Greenland is widely seen as a territory of strategic importance, both for its defense positioning and as a potential source of valuable mineral resources.
