Inter Milan has issued an official update on Lautaro Martinez, who was forced off due to injury during the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash against Barcelona. And the news is far from reassuring for the Argentine striker.
According to the club’s statement released Friday, Lautaro is suffering from a muscle strain in his left thigh. While this confirms the nature of the injury, Inter has deliberately avoided giving a clear timeline for his recovery.
“The condition of the Nerazzurri forward will be assessed day by day,” reads the brief note from the club.
With the second leg against Barça just days away, Lautaro’s potential absence would be a major blow for Simone Inzaghi’s side, who are aiming to reach their first Champions League final since 2010.
