Construction of a tourism and hotel trades school: another step forward for the government

The Beninese government is laying the groundwork for an ambitious project in the vocational training sector. At the Council of Ministers meeting on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, the executive gave the go-ahead for a contract with a consultancy firm to carry out architectural and technical studies, as well as monitoring and control missions for the project to build a tourism, hotel and catering trade school.

This initiative is part of a vast program to build and rehabilitate agricultural training establishments, trade schools and vocational technical high schools, with the aim of modernizing technical education and equipping infrastructures with state-of-the-art equipment.

According to the minutes of the Council of Ministers, this future specialized training school aims to develop skills tailored to the needs of the job market, not only in Benin, but also in the West African sub-region.

A rigorous process to guarantee project quality

To ensure the successful implementation of this project, the government had previously entrusted the Agence pour la construction des infrastructures du secteur de l’éducation (ACISE) with the task of selecting a qualified prime contractor. After a rigorous evaluation process, a firm was selected to carry out the studies and supervise the work.

The government, anxious to ensure the success of the project, has instructed the ministries concerned to closely monitor the execution of the assignments entrusted to the selected firm. This monitoring will ensure compliance with quality standards and optimize the impact of this infrastructure on the vocational training sector.

With this step forward, Benin confirms its commitment to training a skilled workforce capable of meeting the growing demands of the tourism, hotel and catering industries.
