French President Emmanuel Macron is facing growing opposition over a potential return to power in 2032, according to a recent poll by Odoxa-Backbone Consulting for Le Figaro. The survey reveals that 84% of French citizens are against the idea of Macron running for president again after his current term ends in 2027.
Macron, who has already served two consecutive terms, was recently asked on TF1 whether he would consider a comeback in 2032. He avoided giving a clear answer, saying he hadn’t yet had time to think about it and that his current focus is on finishing his ongoing mandate.
Nevertheless, the poll highlights a strong desire among voters to close the chapter on the Macron era. Even within his own political base, the numbers are telling: 56% of supporters are not in favor of him returning to power.
The widespread rejection appears to stem from dissatisfaction with Macron’s policies during his tenure at the Élysée Palace, with many French citizens ready to move on from his leadership.
As 2027 approaches, the political landscape is already shifting—and this early signal from voters suggests Macron’s future ambitions could face serious resistance.
